December 2025 – The University of Economics, Prague has received a Confirmation Letter as part of the process of obtaining the prestigious HR Excellence in Research (HR Award).
- The University of Economics, Prague (VŠE) has taken a significant step toward obtaining the prestigious international HR Award, granted by the European Commission to institutions that comply with the principles of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers. The European Commission has confirmed VŠE’s registration among institutions committed to these principles and issued the university a so-called Confirmation Letter.
- This document confirms that VŠE has officially entered the process of implementing the HR Excellence in Research standards and has begun preparing the necessary documentation required to obtain the HR Excellence in Research Award itself. The next phase will primarily include an analysis of the compliance of existing procedures with the requirements of the Charter and the Code, as well as the development of an action plan focused on strengthening human resources strategy, ensuring transparent recruitment processes, and supporting researchers.
- Participation in this process may, in the future, enhance VŠE’s international competitiveness, improve working conditions for researchers, and increase the university’s attractiveness for international experts and talented researchers.
November 2025 – VŠE Establishes the HR Award Strategic Steering Committee
- As part of the preparatory phase, VŠE has set up the main governing and working groups responsible for the professional implementation of the HR Award process. The HR Award Strategic Steering Committee has been established to coordinate all activities and approve key project steps. At the same time, two working groups have been formed:
- Human Resources, focusing on HR processes, evaluation, and career development.
- Research Integrity, Ethics, Inclusion, and Open Science, addressing ethical issues, equal opportunities, and open science principles.
- Both groups will begin working in the coming weeks on the foundations for the GAP Analysis and Action Plan, with broader involvement of the VŠE research community.
October 2025 – Submission of the Endorsement Letter to the European Commission
- The Rector of VŠE has submitted the so-called Endorsement Letter – an official document confirming VŠE’s commitment to applying the principles of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers. This step represents the first official milestone on the path to obtaining the prestigious HR Award. Once the letter is acknowledged, a twelve-month period begins for preparing key outputs such as the GAP Analysis, Action Plan, and OTM-R Checklist.
September 2025 – VŠE Launches the Preparatory Phase for Obtaining the HR Award
- The Prague University of Economics and Business (VŠE) has officially launched the preparatory phase of the process to obtain the European HR Excellence in Research Award (HR Award). With this step, VŠE has committed to international standards in human resources management in research and confirmed its dedication to creating a fair and inspiring working environment for researchers. In the coming months, the university will prepare the necessary documents and structures to initiate the entire process in compliance with the European Commission’s requirements.
